Secondary research is research that has already been dont by someone else. This means that if someone wants to find correct information quickly they can find primary research that has already been conducted.
For example if i wanted to see
Secondary research has its advantages and disadvantages, however the advantages out weighs the disadvantages
The advantages are as following:
- Its quick, as i mentioned before secondary research is looking at research that someone has already done, meaning you wont have to go through the steps of primary research.
- Its cheap. Primary research can be quite expensive depending on how much information it's conductors want. So when the primary researches put the information on for example the internet, people can easily search it and it wont cost them anything/or in some cases not as much as how much the primary researcher had spent.
The disadvantages are:
- The information is not upto date. When looking at secondary research it is very important to be aware of when the study was held, when the book was published, when the blog was posted. This is important because things, especially informtaion change alot and if the information is out of date it can be false.
- Depending on the source of the research, in some cases the informattion given can be false. For example the internet cannot be trusted because most of the information on there can be edited by anyone.
- Not always free. When businesses know that the topic they are researching is something important and that many others including other businesses want similar or the same information, the primary researcher in this case being the business put a price up for the research they carry out. So if someone wants the information they carried out they would be given a part of that information but not all of it and they part they would be given in way that would make the reader want to buy the full version. So in order to unlock the whole study, they would have to buy it off of the company.
In conclusion secondary research is a quick and cheap way to find information however it can be incorrect and out dated.
